Robert McClory Bike Path Paving Project

The City of Lake Forest is repaving the Robert McClory Bike Path between Illinois Road and Westleigh Road. This project consists of removing the existing path surface, widening the path from eight to ten feet, and placing the new surface.

In the 2023 Community-Wide Survey, residents ranked parks and trails as a high priority, so the City is allocating funds to improve the Robert McClory Bike Path this year. The McClory Bike Path, which runs parallel to Western Avenue through downtown Lake Forest, is a popular path for pedestrians, runners, and bikers. The portion of the path between Illinois Road and Westleigh Road is in poor condition and needs to be resurfaced.

The project is expected to begin the week of July 8 and last approximately 3 weeks (weather permitting).

Anticipated Impacts
During construction, you can expect:

- The portion of the Robert McClory Bike Path between Illinois Road and Westleigh Road will be closed for the duration of the project, an estimated three weeks (weather permitting).
- General construction impacts, including increased noise from equipment, increased truck traffic along Western Avenue, etc.
- Signs for the bike detour route will be posted (view detour map).
- Working hours will be Monday-Friday from 7 am-7 pm and if needed, Saturday-Sunday from 8 am-6 pm. Additional hours may be allowed in order to complete the project as quickly as possible.
