April is Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month. To celebrate and promote acceptance of this condition, the Lake Forest Police Department will, once again, offer its commemorative patch. For a donation of $20 or more, you can receive this unique collector patch.

Four donation events are scheduled for the month of April.

  • April 3 – 7-10 am at Starbucks-East, 672 N. Western Ave.
  • April 13 – 11 am-2 pm at The Peanut Gallery, 588 N. Western Ave.
  • April 14 – 8 am-12 pm at Starbucks-West, 840 S. Waukegan Rd.
  • April 29 – 8 am-12 pm at Gerhard's Elegante European Desserts. 720 N. Western Ave.

We're so grateful for our community partners' support of our mission. Can't make it to one of these events? You can stop by the Public Safety Building (255 W. Deerpath) during regular business hours to donate and pick up your patch.

All proceeds go directly to the Autism program of the SEDOL Foundation. We chose the SEDOL Foundation because it is a local Lake County organization that directly impacts and helps those with Autism. The Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) provides physically, mentally, and emotionally challenged people aged 3 to 22 with educational opportunities appropriate to individual needs. Also, if you did not know, Lake Forest High School's West Campus hosts a SEDOL education program.
