Lake-Woodbine Bridge Public Information Meeting on Dec. 13

The City of Lake Forest will hold a Public Information Meeting concerning the proposed replacement of the Lake-Woodbine Bridge. The bridge is located on Lake Road, just north of Woodbine Lane.  

The public information meeting will be held on December 13, 2021, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  at the Gorton Community Center in the Stuart Community Room (400 East Illinois Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045). All persons interested in this project are invited to attend. Persons with disabilities planning to attend this meeting may contact Byron Kutz by December 8, 2021 to make arrangements for participating.  If you can't make it in-person, watch the presentation remotely via Zoom.

A presentation of the project concept is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. The presentation will cover the following topics: why replacement of the bridge is needed, the design alternatives under consideration, and the tentative project design and construction schedule. Representatives from the City of Lake Forest and the City’s consultants for this project will be available after the presentation to answer questions and record comments offered by those in attendance.  If you can't make it in-person, watch the presentation remotely via Zoom.

This project is in the preliminary development stage and no reports or detailed engineering analyses have yet been developed beyond the Bridge Condition Report which will be available for review at the meeting. The project will require the issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness from the City’s Historic Preservation Commission. Commission review of a proposed design is tentatively scheduled for January 26, 2022. Please check the City’s website for confirmation of the meeting date: www.cityoflakeforest.com/calendar. Anyone who attends and signs in at this information meeting will be added to the interested parties list to receive direct mailed notice of the Historic Preservation Commission meeting. Additional community outreach will occur prior to any construction activities.
