Letter from Police Chief

Chief of Police
The Lake Forest Police Department was established July 2, 1894, and currently serves a community population of just fewer than 20,000 people and covers almost 20 square miles.

The mission of the Lake Forest Police Department is to provide the highest quality professional police services in partnership with our community. Our members are entrusted to consistently seek and find ways to affirmatively promote, preserve, and deliver a feeling of safety and security while providing service and problem resolution for all persons within the City of Lake Forest.

Members of the Lake Forest Police Department are committed to working with the community to solve problems and proactively address developing issues. We believe that positive interaction with community members and organizations will provide the best and most effective solutions to current and future problems.

All persons are treated with courtesy and respect. Members of the Police Department conduct themselves in the most professional manner possible so serve as role models for the community. We believe in the highest standards for the agency.

The Lake Forest Police Department is committed to continued training for all employees. We believe in cooperating in training exercises with community groups such as elementary schools, high schools, and Lake Forest College.

The Lake Forest Police Department is committed to cooperating with area police departments to analyze trends in criminal activity that affect the North Shore area. We actively work with other law enforcement agencies to develop strategies for successfully combating criminal activity in the area.
