City
ordinance requires all motor vehicles registered or housed
in The City of Lake Forest to display Lake Forest Vehicle
Sticker.
Any vehicle registered to The City of Lake Forest without a
vehicle sticker displayed is subject
to fine or penalties. The vehicle sticker year is May 1 to April 30. The deadline for purchasing and displaying current
stickers is April 30. Beginning May 1, a 50% late fee is
added, and the resident will be at
risk of receiving a $75.00 ticket from the Police Department. The fees for motor
vehicle stickers are listed below. Seniors age 65 and over
qualify for a discounted fee of $45. There is only one discount
allowed per
senior.
New Lake Forest residents should obtain a vehicle sticker
after registering their vehicle to their Lake Forest address
through the IL Secretary of State. Please bring the
vehicle registration to Municipal Services to purchase your
vehicle sticker. Residents whose vehicles are
registered outside of The City of Lake Forest have the
option of purchasing a Beach Parking sticker, which allows
parking at Forest Park Beach and access to the Compost
Center. Please bring your current vehicle registration
to Municipal Services to purchase your Beach Parking sticker
over the counter.
Those who purchase
a new vehicle should obtain a vehicle sticker within 72 hours
of the vehicle purchase. Please bring the vehicle
purchase receipt to Municipal Services so the purchase date
can be verified and the late fee will be waived.
Parking at Forest Park Beach or use
of the Compost Center in The City of Lake Forest is
prohibited unless the vehicle displays a City of Lake Forest vehicle
sticker or Beach Parking sticker. These are available for purchase at
the Municipal Services Building, 110 E Laurel Avenue, Lake
Forest. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Please Note:
- Vehicle stickers must be purchased and displayed by April 30, 2008.
- Vehicle stickers are not available immediately over the counter at
the time of purchase. The purchased sticker will be
printed with the vehicle license plate number and mailed to the resident's home.
- As of May 1, 2008, the vehicle license fee includes
a 50% late penalty* fee for residents who have not renewed
their vehicle sticker as required by ordinance.
*Penalty will be waived if you have
purchased your vehicle within the last 72 hours, just bring
your purchasing contract or other proof of purchase into our
office to get the fee waived.

*REPLACEMENT VEHICLE STICKERS: If your vehicle, or
windshield, will be replaced, please remove the
current vehicle sticker from the windshield (it is
natural for the vehicle sticker to come off in
pieces) and return the sticker (or pieces) to the Municipal
Services Building to qualify for a $5.00 replacement.
If the vehicle sticker is not returned, proof that
you no longer own the vehicle, or receipt for
windshield replacement, is required. |
