Thank you for visiting CROYA, located in the
Recreation Center
at 400 Hastings Road.
CROYA is an acronym for "Committee Representing Our Young Adults."
Since 1980, CROYA has been charged with attending to the social and
psychological needs of the young adults of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff.
It provides a supportive atmosphere where students can identify their
needs and, around those needs, create structured programs that are
positive and rewarding. Students engage in alternative activities, build
confidence and self-esteem, develop leadership skills, and act as a
referral to resources for peers whose needs are beyond
their control.
CROYA also has an adult board, consisting of representatives from The
City of Lake Forest, the Village of Lake Bluff, and the local schools,
as well as the student chairperson of CROYA's senior high youth
committee. It acts as a resource board for CROYA's programs, oversees
the budget, and serves in a support capacity to the director and
staff.
The CROYA Book Empowering Teens
CROYA published a book entitled Empowering Teens:
A Guide to Developing a Community-Based Youth Organization. The goal of this book is to share with other communities
CROYA's formula for working successfully with youth.
This is a wonderful resource for parents, educators,
counselors, and community organization leaders. If you
are interested in purchasing a copy ($19.95 plus tax and
shipping/handling), call 847-615-4304.
